Health & Well-Being

Overview
Youth Glow’s Health & Well-being initiative strengthens community health systems by empowering youth and women to lead awareness, prevention, and support efforts across rural Liberia. We work to improve access to essential health information and services—focusing on disease prevention, nutrition, mental health, and reproductive health—while promoting healthy behaviors that enable families and communities to thrive.
Program Goals
  • Increase community knowledge and practice of preventive health and hygiene.
  • Improve maternal, adolescent, and child health outcomes through targeted education and access.
  • Strengthen community-based health systems and referral pathways.
  • Promote mental health awareness and psychosocial well-being among youth.
  • Foster youth and women leadership in driving local health solutions.
Key focus Areas
  1. Health Education & Awareness: Train peer educators and community facilitators to lead campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, immunization, and reproductive health, ensuring families make informed health decisions.
  2. Disease Prevention & Immunization: Support awareness and advocacy on vaccine uptake and the elimination of diseases such as hepatitis, malaria, and other preventable infections through collaboration with local health teams.
  3. Mental Health & Psychosocial Support: Engage youth in building positive coping mechanisms, emotional resilience, and peer support systems to address stigma and improve community mental health.
  4. Adolescent & Reproductive Health: Empower adolescents with accurate information on reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, and gender equality, ensuring access to youth-friendly services.
  5. Community Health Leadership: Build local structures of youth and women leaders who advocate for health equity, influence local policies, and support community-driven health responses.
Expected Outcomes
  • Improved health awareness and practices in rural communities.
  • Increased immunization rates and reduced preventable diseases.

  • Strengthened mental health resilience among youth and caregivers.

  • Greater access to reproductive and adolescent health services.
