Overview

Youth Glow’s Climate Action and Livelihood initiative empowers rural communities in Liberia—especially youth and women—to strengthen their resilience to the impacts of climate change while creating sustainable sources of income. By combining climate education, green skills training, and community-driven solutions, the initiative transforms environmental challenges into pathways for economic growth, food security, and sustainable development.

Program Goals

• Strengthen local capacity to adopt climate-smart agricultural and energy practices.

• Restore degraded lands, conserve forests, and protect vital ecosystems.

• Improve food security and household income through sustainable livelihoods.

• Promote community leadership and youth participation in climate governance.

• Advance climate education and advocacy across schools and communities.

Focus Area

• Sustainable Farming: Train youth and women in agroecology, soil conservation, crop diversification, and organic farming to increase productivity and protect biodiversity

• Forest & Land Restoration: Mobilize community groups to engage in tree planting, reforestation, and watershed protection, restoring degraded land and improving ecosystem health.

• Clean Energy Solutions: Promote the use of solar technologies, energy-efficient stoves, and other renewable energy innovations to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy access.

• Climate-Smart Enterprises: Support green businesses—such as eco-briquette production, composting, and sustainable crafts—that generate income while promoting environmental stewardship.

• Community Climate Watch: Equip communities to collect local environmental data, track climate risks, and drive advocacy for local and national action.
